Coding Possibilities: Pearl Abyss’s Youth Hackathon, the “Dinga-Ding Project”
We believe that someone’s very first game could change the world.
To put that belief into action, Pearl Abyss launched the “Dinga-Ding Project” in 2022. By going directly to children in under-resourced communities with limited access to IT education, we have opened the door to game development for more than 1,800 young people across 19 regions nationwide.
The Dinga-Ding Project is far more than a basic coding class. Students take on roles in game design, programming, and art to form teams, then build a complete game together from start to finish. As they share and refine ideas, they pick up not only technical skills but also the joy of collaboration and creativity.
After finishing the foundational program, top students earn a place in advanced training and take the stage at the final hackathon held at Pearl Abyss’s headquarters, “Home One.” There, they present the games they built and receive feedback and mentoring from Pearl Abyss employees, an experience that stays with them long after the event is over.
Pearl Abyss will keep walking alongside even more young people, helping them discover their own potential through the Dinga-Ding Project.
